Australia's first Islamic banking app, bringing trading, everyday banking, investments and home loans into one Sharia-compliant experience.
There was no template for this. Building a multi-product banking app is hard on its own; doing it as the first Sharia-compliant banking app in Australia, in a heavily regulated category where every product has to satisfy both financial rules and Islamic-finance principles, meant writing the playbook as we went.

The Halal Money app brought a full Sharia-compliant financial suite into one place: live ETF share trading on the ASX, the Australian stock exchange; everyday savings and transaction accounts with debit cards; term-deposit-style investment accounts; and home loans, where we connected the app to Hejaz's existing home-loan products so customers had a new way to enquire and apply. My role was pure product and very hands on. I ran A/B testing to validate design decisions, wrote and shaped epics and user stories, and led the Scrum ceremonies and refinement sessions that turn a rough proposition into something clear, sized and ready for the development team to estimate and build. Because the product was one of its kind, I also owned the product marketing side: how to position it in the market, which propositions to lead with, and the go-to-market strategy, and I analysed future markets for expansion, including the UK and the GCC.
We launched on time, with an onboarding experience customers found effortless, excellent reviews, and genuine satisfaction with the service, a strong debut for a first-of-its-kind product in a demanding, compliance-heavy category. The launch was part of a program worth more than AUD 15M (about $10M), with trading, everyday banking, investment and home-loan journeys all live.
Always happy to talk product, AI, and interesting opportunities.
